Hi! I’m Claire Collins, a photographer based in the Chicago area and a member and Director of Photography of the TABULAE yearbook at Lyons Township High School. Through yearbook, I’ve had the chance to capture everything from big games and school events to smaller, candid moments people might not always notice, but end up meaning the most.

I’ve photographed sports, events, portraits, and everyday life around school, and I’ve also had the opportunity to shoot higher-level athletics, including Division I basketball and hockey and a minor league hockey game. I’ve photographed UIC men’s and women’s basketball and baseball, Alabama hockey, and the Chicago Wolves.

I’ve been nominated by my yearbook advisor for Photojournalist of the Year, and one of my portrait photos received a Scholastic Silver Key award. This year, I’ll also be attending the Journalism Education Association conference, where several of my photos have been submitted to a national competition.

As an athlete myself, sports photography is one of my favorite things to shoot because I understand the rhythm of the game and the moments that matter most, not just the action, but the reactions and emotions behind it. I also love photographing events and portraits because of the genuine, unscripted moments they capture. Outside of yearbook, I work as a freelance photographer shooting seniors, families, events, and sports, and I’m always looking for new opportunities.
